The Government has set a target of achieving a 50% reduction in construction waste going to landfill by 2012 compared with 2008 figures

This target is to be achieved by undertaking the following:

• Reuse, recycling, recovery of demolition waste
• Reuse of soil materials during groundworks
• Sustainable on site remedial techniques
• Segregation of wastes during construction
• Recylcing options for disposal of wastes
• Selection of prefab construction materials
